Decorative painting & Specialist Finishes

In many projects, the most important decisions happen late – when materials meet, details are revealed and the work needs to settle into place.

Specialist paint finishes are often used to resolve details that can’t be solved with standard materials or off the shelf solutions and I work hands-on at this stage to carry design intent through with care and judgement.

Decorative painting

Decorative finishes allow surfaces and furniture to be customised in ways that range from subtle to highly detailed. They can be used to add depth, texture, or quiet variation — or to solve practical problems where replacement isn’t an option.

This includes layered finishes, glazing, and painted details that are designed to sit comfortably within an existing space.

Woodgraining & marbleizing

These traditional faux finishes can dramatically change the appearance of cabinetry, doors, trim, or furniture without replacing the original material.

I accurately replicate wood and marble on surfaces that can take paint, allowing existing elements to be retained while achieving the desired look.

Custom wood finishes

Using glazes, topical stains, whitewash, and pickling techniques, I create finishes that either match surrounding woodwork or introduce a new layer of character.

This approach is often used to unify old and new elements within a space, or to soften and age materials so they sit more naturally together.

Repairs & restorations

Accidents happen, materials age, and original details are often damaged during renovation.

I carry out repairs and restorations that preserve existing pieces where possible — extending their life, maintaining continuity, and avoiding unnecessary replacement.
