Commercial projects

These projects come with real constraints — fixed budgets, tight timelines, and finishes that need to stand up to daily use. Decisions have to hold up not just visually, but operationally.

I work with business owners and project teams to keep work clear, coordinated, and moving forward, without losing sight of the overall vision.

Working within real-world constraints

Commercial environments demand clarity, sequencing, and follow-through.

I work alongside contractors, architects, designers, and specialists, coordinating schedules, materials, and finishes so work progresses efficiently and issues are addressed before they become delays. I’m used to working within live timelines and adapting to site realities while maintaining standards.

Finishes, branding, and custom elements

Finishes play a significant role in commercial spaces — both visually and practically. Techniques such as woodgraining, glazing, decorative painting, plaster, and textured finishes can be used to refresh existing interiors or add character to new ones, while holding up under regular use.

In some projects, my involvement includes helping translate a brand into the physical environment. This might mean pulling together a coherent scheme, identifying design opportunities, or working alongside an interior designer to ensure the space feels aligned with the business it represents.

Where appropriate, I also design and produce custom signage or artwork — elements that are both practical and decorative, and that help communicate a business’s identity within the space.

The project below is representative of the type of commercial work I take on, combining design thinking, coordination and specialist finishes in practice.

Featured Commercial Project

A full transformation of an existing space into a wine-focused restaurant and bar, involving custom finishes and close coordination throughout the build.

Commercial projects benefit from clear oversight and steady follow-through.
